Dr. Dixon T. Gevaña is appointed as the 10th director of the Forestry Development Center and named as 2022 UPLB College of Public Affairs and Development Distinguished Alumnus.

Established in 1978, Dr. Gevaña leads FDC in achieving its mandate to conduct basic policy researches in forestry and develop or help develop efficient machinery for forestry policy formulation and implementation. FDC Director are being selected from the ranks of the faculty of the UPLB College of Forestry and Natural Resources.

Meanwhile, he is also recognized by UPLB CPAf where he obtained his MS Community Development in 2009, for his contributions to education, research, and public service for community development.

Dr. Gevaña holds a PhD in Forest Environmental Science from Seoul National University, Korea. He is currently a Professor and UP Scientist at the DSFFG and is considered one of leading experts in mangrove blue carbon and coastal forest governance research.
