GIA team conducts two IKSP Conference

The project titled "Gender Impact Assessment of Forest Conservation Projects among Indigenous Peoples in Luzon, Philippines" funded by DOST-PCAARRD conducted field-based investigations last February 2023 in Nueva Vizcaya, as part of their Certification Precondition application process.

In partnership with NCIP Nueva Vizcaya, the GIA Team organized two IKSP conference last February 22-24, 2023 with the Gaddang tribe in Brgy. Masoc, Bayombong and the Kalanguya-Ikalahan in Brgy. Imugan, Santa Fe, Nueva Vizcaya. Dr. Lasin P. Osingat, the IKSP team leader, explained the process of securing consent from indigenous peoples and its importance. The project leader of GIA, Dr. Felisa L. Malabayabas, presented the project objectives and the expected outputs. With the help of the Gaddang Representative Ms. Marylinda Ramos and Provincial IPMR Mr. Samuel Balinhawang, the two indigenous groups arrived at a consensual decision to accept the project.

The IKSP conference concluded with the drafting of a resolution and Memorandum of Agreement. Data gathering activities for the said project will commence upon the issuance of the Certification Precondition
